Hi All,

We have migrate our infrastructure from wmb 5 to wmb 7. I tried to find the steps but not finding any thing from 5 to 7. The steps which they provided is from 6 to 7.

Therefore, I want to know, can we directly migrate from 5 to 7 and 5 and 7 can co-exist in the system.

What are the high level steps of migration.

I really appreciate the help.

Does the V6.0/V6.1 documentation contain information on Migrating from V5. to V6.0/V6.1?
If so, compare it to the V6.0/V6.1 to V7.0 migration data. Look at what is different.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

5 and 7 can coexist.

There is no direct migration path.

You have to migrate 5 to 6, and then 6 to 7.

The good news is that 6 can coexist as well.

Oh, and, you should focus entirely on migrating your DEVELOPMENT resources, i.e. Toolkit stuff. Don't migrate running flows. Migrate the flows in the Toolkit, and then run them through the full deployment and testing cycle as if they were newly written.

If you're only going to use the Toolkit for v6, you don't need a runtime license.

All license questions need to be addressed with your IBM sales rep.

Thanks MQJeff,

Now my doubt is , if we are only migrating development resources(Toolkit), then how will we migrate run time like odbc.ini, User defined nodes, configurable services. Can we migrate these things directly from wmb 5 to wmb 7.

Also, is temporary migration from 5 to 6 is requred for only development resources ?

I repeat.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MIGRATE RUNTIME RESOURCES.

It's a waste of time.

Create a NEW broker with a NEW odbc.ini file with the CORRECT information and a NEW queue manager and etc. etc. etc. etc.

User defined nodes are development resources, unless they are supportPacs. If they are supportPacs, then you need to go get the new version, or replace them with the built-in product functionality.

If you're going through the pain of migrating, why do you not just move to version eight?
