Hi,

I have developed a MQ Client application in .Net using WebSphere MQ 7.0.1.5 client version.
Please let me know whether WebSphere MQ 7.0.1.5 client version is a freeware. If it is not a freeware, can you please tell me the dll file to be take to registered in registry so that installation of WebSphere can be avoided.

Please advice...

MQ Client comes with the Websphere MQ Package, it is a component.
You install WMQ Client on the server where you do no need QMgrs/Queue and where applications are hosting.

It Just enables an application, running on the same system as the WebSphere MQ client, to connect to a queue manager which is running on another server/system and issue MQI calls to that queue manager. Hope this Link will help you.

Am not sure which dll you are talking about !

The MQ clients are available as support pacs, they are freely downloadable.

No it's not. It's provided by IBM under their usual license. They just don't charge for this license.

Don't package anything with your application. Make it a requirement that the client is installed before your application will run. Otherwise anyone using your application will be stuck on the 7.0.1.5 version and be a bit cross when they want to update to 7.0.1.6.

Off topic but I think most software vendors would consider just installing the dlls you need to use their chargable licensed functionality to be something they'd still expect to be paid for. Especially as the dlls you're obtaining the benefit of contain the intelectual property you're getting use of with the license. I don't see the defence of "I didn't use your install application or install instructions, I manually copied stuff off your install media" as being all that strong.

But I'm not a lawyer.

Pedantically I don't believe that the WMQ Client is like freeware. Certainly not. However I understand that it is licensed at no cost.
There is a huge difference between the 2.

Nothing pedantic about it. As I indicate above, it's covered by an IBM license, they just don't charge for it.
