Good day,
I need some advise with regards to the /var/mqm/errors directory.
We are running a Production MQ queue manager on a AIX enviroment.
I have noticed that the errors directory in the /var/mqm/ directory is empty. There are no .FDC or . LOG files in there.
As this directory is empty, does it pose a risk to stop and start the Queue Manager?
Thanks in advance |

It shouldn't be completely empty. I'd be more concerned about the circumstances that lead to it being empty - who deleted stuff? - than that it is empty.
But yes, restarting qmgr is a good way to get these files recreated.
I'd look in the qmgr errors directory to make sure it's got AMQERR* files. If not, I'd worry about the qmgr, but if it does you should be okay to stop and start. |

Thanks jeff.
The errors directory in the qmgrs directory does have the AMQERR* files.
I'll take the risk and bounce it.
will let you know how it goes.
Thanks |

Just a case:
In my previous organization, to avoid any kind of mishap, they had given only those privileges to the ids which were sufficient inorder to do certain level of tasks.
More responsible..more privileges (but controlled and monitored).
They had a script which used to log the details, who logged into the server, who checked which file, who did what.
If its a prod server, your system should have such tools/scripts in place to do right and efficient jobs for mq admins.
