I recently ran the numbers for a new WMB application on Power7 architecture. Over a three year life span, with a total cost of ownership around US$200 million, and a Power7 WMB app that could process sustained 10k TPS, I found the cost per transaction to be 0.25 cents. That's amazing! Kudos to IBM for all the hard work to make this a reality.
