All,
We attempted to upgrade WMQ from 6.0.2.2 to 7.0. MQ 7.0 files were downloaded via IBM Passport Advantage. There are 24 files, with the total size of 5.2 GB. The files are either tar files or zip files.
I always install WMQ from CDs, and have never installed from downloaded files.
Does anyone have the installation instructions? For example, which file should be unzip'd or untar'd to get the script mqlicense.sh, as mentioned on page 16 of "Quick Beginnings for Solaris".
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to unzip/untar them all, or interrogated the files, to see what they contain? (zips for Windows and tarballs for UNIX presumably). What instructions are contained within the PA page? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

It sounds like you downloaded MQ 7 for every platform from Passport Advantage. You should have expanded the selection and turned off the platforms you did not require packages for before downloading.
I don't know why Passport Advantage defaults to that. Do they honestly think most people need / want MQ for every O/S ? _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks!
It turned out that all platforms for MQ 7.0 were downloaded, even though Solaris SPARC was specified when downloading via Passport Advantage.
Solaris SPARC has the following two files:
CZ4V9ML.tar.Z // MQ server
CZ4VMML.tar.Z // MQ client |

Note that "MQ server" includes the "MQ client" libraries.
Install the "MQ client" package if MQ Client is the only facility that needs to be used on the system. ie. No queue managers are required. _________________ Glenn |

Also, I've had the best luck when I untar the file to a local drive on the Solaris server, rather than running the pkgadd with the installation files on a contact admin mount. |
