Hi, when we are trying to query a worklist from WOrkflow (version 3.6), we are getting a communication error, when the workflow item crosses 5000.
The max size for domain in (Message size and query size) is set to 100000000 B and similarly the queue, channel and Queue managers are all set to 100000000 .
Is there anything else to be checked?
Any advice please..... |

Why would you retrieve 5000 items in the first place. Use a threshold and retrieve a manageable number of work items. _________________ John McDonald

You are right, when we set the Threshold, the communication error didnt appear, but considering the growth of the usage, we expect the list to naturally grow very soon crossing 5000.
Also setting the Threshold doesnt guarantee the exact lists to be returned, i.e., lets say there are 5000 items it returns only 3000+ items of its choice (which we didnt verify the logic)
So, we need to solve this communication error.... |

Hi,
1. YES there are parameters that you can use to increase the amount of resouces available for a workitem query. This is a complex task, though.
2. I strongly discourage you from going this approach because you'll run into different problems when you allow MQWF to consume so much resources.
3. Your response to John's question indicates to me that you intent to provide such extensive queries not only to selected administrative persons but also to the whole user community. This will not work given the growth of usage mentioned by you! Neither from the perspective of resource allocation nor from the perspective of performance.
I doubt that a user can do anything meaningful with 5000++ workitems.
You need to add some filtering to your queries so that you get the 'right'
10 - 50 workitems (3000 are still far too much).
Hope this helps |
