Hello All,
for the last 1 year I am working on Message Broker and MQ. Now looking for an addition of skill with another Websphere Product.
Not sure which product to learn and which one is more in Market demand especially in Asia(as I am located in Asia).
All the experts over here in the forum, please suggest me which product to learn so that it gels well with WMB/WMQ and in good demand in market.

Don't know about the Asian market, but looking at the process server might be a good extension.

what about WTX?? Is it good enough to learn. Another question is I have not heard of any company using WPS and WMB together. I can be wrong here. |

The advantage of learning WPS would be that it extends your skills into the business process choreography layer, which complements the application connectivity layer that you've learned with WMB+WMQ.
There are well-trodden use cases for using WMB and WPS together, and the SCA nodes in WMB V7 would provide you with a good way in.
An alternative area to look into would be WSRR - application inventories, governance etc., which again work well with WMB and WMQ. |

| I have been looking into WPS for the past few years and it really didn't pick up. I would thing WebSphere Portal is a good option. |

It's a good fit. I've seen/heard of a number of site using all 3 as a group.

There is not much point in learning a new product unless you are going to apply those skills, in your current job, or a new job. The product may disappear from the market, and you will tend to forget the knowledge if its not practised.
WMB and WMQ are a good combination to know. WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is also commonly used with them, as is other 3rd party adapters and ESB / messaging products.

Glenn, you are right. But the problem seems to be here is that my current project/job demands only MQ and WMB skills but when I go into the market looking for another job they do have required more that WMQ/WMB. Sometimes they ask WAS, then some say WPS or some says WTX. or otherwise some jobs do ready to offer but they have work only in WMQ/WMB, so it becomes a vicious cycle of working in WMQ/WMB. Its better to pick some hot skill(by yourselves) and get a job outside and get a chance to work in some good technology.
this is my observation, I might not be in agreement with experts present here. |

A technique to improve your chances is to demonstrate that you can pick up skills on a new / related product very quickly and effectively. Know the basics of a range of products (WAS, WPS, WTX etc) so you can answer the likely high-level technical questions in an interview.
