I am planning on implementing NTP syncronization for a number of servers with MQ, we use expiration and my fear is that due to the syncronization process of any sender box or receiving box may kill some messages by using incorrect date/times. Things like a message waiting in a queue with expiry: 30 secs, and the server adjusting its time to: +25 seconds and then having the message live for only 5 seconds. Another scenario that comes to mind is having a message received in the future because the server received it and then adjusted its time to -5 minutes, etc...

Can these type of things happen ?, what will be the effect on MQ ?

Once you implement NTP correctly, time adjustments will be very small - you'll not see a 25-second adjustment. The whole point of NTP is to keep time synchronized, so after the first setup you'll see occasional sub-second adjustments, not big jumps.

Impementing NTP ought not to be an issue for MQSeries.
