We tried to clone an MQSeries server running on VMWare and deployed the clone on a different domain. The I ran the MQ command "AMQMSRVN -user <domain\>NEW_NAME -password <password> " to change the service startup to match the new domain user ID and password. When I tried to start the Queue Manager in the new domain, I get an 2009 error.
My question, do I need to delete the transaction logs to start MQ? This is the only thing I can think of that is stopping MQ from starting. Has anyone tried cloning a MQSeries server? Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Do you mean that the qmgr failed to start at all? Did the qmgr start successfully, but one or more channels failed to start?
What was in the error logs pertaining to the 2009 ReasonCode? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Correct, The Queue Manager failed to start. I know the 2009 error is usually related to a channel or communication error. I think the error is only the tip of the iceberg. I think there are settings or permissions in MQ relating back to the old domain. I told our system admin to delete the queue manager and create a new queue manager using the same name. Then we ran the "runmqsc queue manager name < qmanager.mqsc > out.log" and still, we are are getting the same errors. At this point, I am ready to tell them to uninstall MQ and do a reinstall. |

You change the domain user... use the MQInstall wizard to do this. It will also change the stuff needed in the unsavory buoy icon... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
