Hi Q Experts,

I was trying to connect to one of my queue manager running on UNIX through RFHutil.

I'm getting following error:
*Error cc=2 rc=2538 Cannot Connect

I'm running WinXP on my PC.

RFHUtil was working earlier with no issues.

your help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

First piece of advice - post in the correct forum!

Second piece of advice - read the manual, which gives the possible causes...you may not be using the correct RFHutil exe.

Reason Code 2538 x'9EA'
MQRC_HOST_NOT_AVAILABLE
An MQCONN call was issued from a client to connect to a queue manager but the attempt to allocate a conversation to the remote system failed. Common causes of this reason code are:
* The listener has not been started on the remote system.
* The connection name in the client channel definition is incorrect.
* The network is currently unavailable.
Completion Code: MQCC_FAILED
Programmer Response: Examine the client error log for messages explaining the cause of the problem.

What's in the client error log?

Hi gbaddeley,

thanks a lot for your response. I have checked all the conditions you specified. eveything looks fine to me.

By the way, I have this issues only with RFHUtil tool. I can connect to the same queue manager through MQ Explorer with no issues.

I have also installed new RFHUtil and tried but no luck.

Thanks again for your help,

Regards,

Hi,

- install a MQ Client on your pc.
- configure MQSERVER or channel table.
- make sure your personal firewall is not blocking the connection
- Start the client version RFHUtilc.exe

OK, I'm going to ask the question in a different way - are you sure you are using RFHUtilc, and not RFHUtil?

Then, echoing gbaddeley:

1. What's in the client error log?
2. What changed from when it worked, to when it didn't?
3. Have you checked your variable settings?
