All,

I created and use a tool that I thought other people would find useful: ServerStatus. The reason I created it was that I now have a rather large collection of servers and I needed to know which servers were actually running. To be environmentally friendly and save a few dollars, I only boot up the servers that I'm using for a particular testing scenarios. Hence, I needed a simple tool to tell me if server was running rather than waiting for putty to time-out.

ServerStatus will display a window that shows the status of a list of servers, contact admin, routers, etc... ServerStatus will 'ping' each server / network device once per minute to determine if it is 'online' or 'offline' (colored as green or red). It requires Java v1.5 or higher to be installed on your PC.

ServerStatus is being released as open source under the Apache License 2. Hence, ServerStatus is FREE for all to use.

You can download ServerStatus from the following web page:
http://www.capitalware.biz/open_source.html

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Regards,

Hi Roger,

in my current project we are using Nagios for similar purposes

Maybe this tool has some additional functionality useful for you.

Greetings

Hi,

I did look at a few tools but they are all overkill for what I need. i.e. Is the server up and running? (pinging a server is good enough for me)
