Hi,
I wonder if anyone can advise on an issue we are having on our old NT4 gateway server. The issue first occurred when KB951748 (DNS Client Patch) was installed. This stopped our MQ Channels from working with error "A communications error for TCP/IP occurred. The Return code from the TCP/IP (setsocketopt(SO_KEEPALIVE) call was 10055 (X'2747'). Record these values and tell the systems administrator.
Also MQservices showed the channels as retrying and netstat shows the TCP ports as Time_Wait (1416 and 1422). The ports to the PDC and WINS server are established and working fine.
Back in September we removed the patch and everything started to work again. Unfortunately our patching team pushed KB951748 back to the server in October. We again removed it but it has never worked since. I also re-installed SP6a as advised by microsoft on KB249798 but again this issue still occurs.
I now seemed to have searched everywhere on the net so thought I'd post here in the hope that someone has dealt with the same issue.
Interestingly, on the MS site that KB number doesn't mention NT and it's a DNS fix that breaks ZoneAlarm.
What's happening with memory usage on that server? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.
I looked up the 10055 error and added the following keys:
MaxUserPort: 65534
TCPTimedWaitDelay: 60
The NT Server is also only a test box so I have rebooted it many time over the last 2 days. Straight after the reboot the event vwr shows the 10055 alerts so I dont think this is connected to memory.
Its as though for some reason only the TCP IBM MQSeries type Ports are stuck at Time_Wait. The rest are established. Surely they should at least be listed as listening?
I'm a bit confused now...are you saying that the channels are working, but are being reported as being in retry?
Have you tried deleting and redefining the channels and ports? Just to see if that flushes any 'ghosts'? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.
