Hi All,

We have a MQ v5.3.0.13 server on Linux. I am using MQ explorer v6.0 on a Windows machine and I am able to connect to the QueueManagers succesfully.

Requirement:
For a new user, I need to setup a read-only view of MQExplorer.
I referred the below link and completed all the steps.
http://hursleyonwmq.wordpress.com/2007/02/08/using-websphere-mq-explorer-as-a-read-only-viewer/#more-42

Steps:
Created a new user in Linux.
Command server is running.
Listener is running.
Created a new server connection channel with MCAUser('NewUser').
Setmquat commands were executed.

Created the same user in windows. Opened the MQ explorer. Tried to add the QueueManager.

Issue: AMQ4036 Unable to connect to Queuemanager due to improper permission

NOTE: setmqaut command for channel is not working.
setmqaut -m QM_NAME -t channel -n CHANNEL_NAME -p NewUser +dsp

Had anyone faced this issue. The setmqaut is not succesfully executed for channel. But, atleast the QM connection should work, which is not the case.

Have you seen this:

Quote:

If you want to look at queues with WebSphere MQ Explorer in this way, you will need to have Refresh Pack 6.0.2.0 or greater applied. A bug in the Explorer prior to this meant that the failure to display SYSTEM.AUTH.DATA.QUEUE (a queue which it is not possible to give a non-mqm user access to) prevented any queues from being displayed. This is documented more fully in APAR IC49051.

Wrong approach for Linux.
Don't create a user, create a group for the setup.
Create a user in that group and give permissions to the group.
Remember Linux/Unix doesn't handle permissions at the user level but allocates them at the group level. If you specify a user the permissions are allocated to the primary group of that user....

Enjoy
