I have successfully configured MQExplorer as a read-only viewer. I now want to make this available to a few developers.
I've started with a developer who has many Rational & WebSphere products on his desktop. At one time, he had a trial version of MQ which has since expired and he stated had been uninstalled. He is not licensed for MQ server, so I want him to have MQExplorer only.
When I started the MQ launchpad, it claimed that the Eclipse pre-req was already satisfied. There was still an entry in Add/Remove Programs for MQ, so I did a "remove". Then the launchpad showed that the Eclipse pre-req was not met, so I chose to install it.
However, no shortcuts were created for strmqcfg. I tried to execute it from the command line, but it claimed the file couldn't be found. I then searched the hard drive for strmqcfg, and it's not there.
I again started the MQ launchpad, and it claimed that the Eclipse pre-req was satisfied.
Have I missed something or what? Is it possible that this machine is just too confused by other Eclipse installations that it can't be sorted out? |

It's not clear from your description...
After installing the Eclipse pre-req, did you then go through and do a server install, select custom, then remove all the components other than the MQ Explorer?
If you didn't then all you have installed is the Eclipse framework that the Explorer uses. The Explorer itself (and the strmqcfg command) is only installed by the server installer. |

See, I did miss something stupid.
Thanks very much, I'm heading back to the developer's workstation. I just love doing desktop support..... |
