Some background info needed:
Is the machine in question connected to a TCP/IP network, with a DNS server? This sounds like the error when I installed MQ on my stand-alone laptop.
If you have TCP/DNS then MQ will install a default queue manager with a name like qmgr.<machine name> - not terribly useful |

Hi,
For an NT box (as WIN2000 is NT5, I don't think there is a massive change )
try start, settings, control panel then click on Network icon. Select "protocols" tab. There should be one there called TCP/IP. Highlight it and click "properties". There should be a DNS tab - see if there is an entry there. Also, at that point you can check if there is a host name for your box - MQ seems to require it.
If TCP/IP isn't configured - you need to add it. Time to dig out the installation CD I'm afraid!
