Hi Everybody,
Without going into too much detail, Cressida are looking into developing a product that needs to know the "TARGET" queue to which a message is being put.
In *most* cases, the names returned in the ResolvedQMgrName and ResolvedQName of the MQOD will serve our purpose, but if Distribution Lists are used, this will not be the case.
Because handling of Distribution Lists and the associated structures is very complex (not in the least because queue managers might regroup messages to one or more different distribution lists throughout their journey in the WMQ network, or even send some messages without using a distribution list), we would want to get an idea of the "popularity" of this feature.
We would appreciate your cooperation by adding your choice to this poll.
Thanks beforehand, _________________ Juul Vanparijs

Hi,
After the first half week, only 9 votes, which *seems* to indicate that the use of "Distribution Lists" is not really widely spread (although 1 out of 3 respondents state at least moderate use).
Leaving the poll open for some more days... _________________ Juul Vanparijs

I think if you code it without this ability, then all you'll hear from your customers is " why didn't it work for this app?".
And if you do code it with this ability, then nobody will ever complain about it. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

@Jeff: that's indeed the way it will be if we don't code it... but as always and everywhere, development resources are very scarce, and we strive to use them for "the greater benefit of most".
Before taking a decision on DistList support, we are just trying to get a feel from the actual WMQ community if a multi-week development effort is justified. _________________ Juul Vanparijs
