Hi,
I need urgent help. The WBIA JDBC Connector has a config file and using connector configuration i clicked on encrypt, but forgot the password which was actually present. Does anyone know what is the encryption technique used so that i can find the decryption technique online and know the original password?
Or is there any tool which can help me know the real password?
Please help ASAP.
Regards,

You can't, in general, decrypt a password. You can only re-encrypt a string with the same method, and compare the results to the encrypted string.
Get the DBA to change the password on the DB. Update the Adapter config file. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

i would very well do that and infact i have been using that method to make it run. But, i'm afraid about the dependencies of the userid. i am not sure what other users are using the same id to connect and if they connect with the old password (which i dont know) then their connection would fail.
Would there be any method of resetting the password on a unix box to an old value even though i dont know what it was..? i guess it cant be done! huh.. |

You want to set a password to a value you don't know? Now that's what I call random access!!
If what you're alluding to is a "go-back" facility where the password can be reverted to the previous nth one, I'm not aware of that facility being provided on any platform. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Depending on the unix system, and what Unix registry it's using, if you have a properly encrypted password, even if you don't know the decrypted version, then you can update for example the shadow file with the encrypted text.
But in general, a bad idea. You have, right now, an opportunity to reexamine (and document!) the people who are using this userid. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
