I'm trying to create a cluster environment. I'm using 2 AIX servers with 1 queue manager setup on each. Both queue managers have the same name and the same queue names. Basically we are creating this cluster in order to add some extra power to our application. I'm using MQ 5.3 CSD08 (I know... very old).
The cluster sender and receiver channels for both queue managers are up and running.
When I refresh the cluster I get the following message in the error logs and I can't see all of the clustered queues, ie: dis qcluster(*) just shows the cluster queues for the one queue manager.
10/02/07 15:15:47
AMQ9426: Repository command recipient unknown.
EXPLANATION:
The repository manager tried to send a command to another queue manager using
channel TO.RRIF2. The recipient queue manager, whose identifier is
MQTEST_2007-10-02_14.22.39, could not be found. Command code 1017.
ACTION:
Check the channel and cluster definitions of the sending and receiving queue
managers.
Any ideas on what I should check? |

Hmmm, don't like the fact that the qmgrs have the *same* name. I known they each have an internal unique QMID to keep them separate, but it makes me uneasy.
I would recommend that each qmgr is given its own name.
PS. You haven't cloned the 2nd box from the first, including cloning the qmgr have you? This would make the QMID attribute on the qmgr the same on both qmgrs How would the two qmgrs differentiate each other. _________________ Regards

Oh, this is bad bad bad bad bad.
Two qmgrs with the same name in the cluster?
On a back level of MQ?
that is bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad.
Call them qmgr1 and qmgr2, at least.
How will you know where reply messages have to go? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks guys. I'll try giving the queue managers different names. That makes total sense. Don't know where my head was at! |
