In AS/400 MQseries which process /job is the main process/job to monitor ? Is there any single process/job to monitor by tivoli to confirm Mqseries to be up and running ? |

NONE. Even if the process runs, if it runs under the wrong userid there is no guarantee that your qmgr will function adequately...
This is why Tivoli has an agent for monitoring MQSeries... Use it! _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

There are many approaches to monitoring. Some choose to monitor the MQ processes (which are listed in the MQ Admin Guide). Others choose to use a product that is specific to MQ itself (e.g. Tivoli MQ agent). Then, others try to roll-their-own monitoring software. None of the above are complete in themselves. For example, if the file system runs out of space, MQ may hang and the Tivoli MQ agent may show a problem, e.g. MQ agent not responding/down, but that in and of itself does not indicate what the real problem is. OTOH, if you used the Tivoli AS/400 agent to monitor the filesystem, it would give a more meaningful alert. |
