We have 2 id's on an AIX machine. Both have identical setups as far as what groups they belong too (mqm being one of them), and both belong to the same primary group. Userid1 has full access to the queue manager while userid2 has no access to the queue manager.
I am no expert on MQ or AIX security, so I was wondering if someone might be able to explain this to me. The documentation clearly states that if you set the authorizations on a particular user id on unix, the authorizations take effect on the user's primary group, therefore affecting EVERYONE in that group. How can 2 id's, with the same primary group and same secondary groups have completely different access rights to a queue manager? _________________ IBM Certified Specialist: MQSeries

maybe... userid2 was added later to the mqm group and the queuemanager hasn't restarted or had a refresh security since? _________________ Michael

Bingo!
Unless I missed it, I didnt see it mentioned that you needed a queue manager restart or a refresh security for that to take place. I probably missed it.
Thank you. _________________ IBM Certified Specialist: MQSeries
