I'm trying to migrate from MQSeries5.3 to WebSphere MQ v6.0 in Solaris and I have some problems.

Brief problem explanation:

Firstly I have de-install MQSeries 5.3 and try to install MQ v6.0, and I thought that possibly OS is not compatible with MQ v6.0, but I'm not sure and then I try to come back to version 5.3 but I have next errors:

Errors:

DXCCIRB1(root)# pkgadd -d /export/home/mqm/softmq/5.3solaris -v
The following packages are available:
1 gsk6bas Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk6bas)

You can double-check the System Requirements for Solaris to find out if you can run v6 on this version.

It sounds like you don't have enough /tmp space, or the permissions on /tmp are weird... You are trying to run pkgadd as root, right?

Hi,

Server just has 2GB free in /tmp file system (99% free space). And I have logged as root. It shouldn't be a permission problem (I think).

Another question, why do you try to go back to 5.3.
You should be able to run version 6 on Solaris 8.

At least, we are running it here.
You may uninstall 5.3 and next install version 6. Never had any problem with that, so perhaps you can share your problem with v6?

I obtain same error with v5.3 as v6.0. Finally I'll try to install v6.0.

I think this should work.

Tell me onething, which is the userID you used to un-installlation V5.3 and install V6.0?

And, what was the command you used to uninstall and install? Did you follow IBM recommendations/Guidelines?

Thans!!

Finally, I resolved it, changin the permissions from /tmp folder.

From the begining, this folder has 755, and I logged as root, but after I changed it to 777, en the installation was sucessfully.

I suposed that must be some internal installation procces that try to make something with an diferent user from root.

Yes, i do remember the same. That was the reason i asked you about the userIDs. Good that you solved it. Enjoy!!!
