I am developing a poc to demonstrate "Publishing a message flow as a WebService". A new non-MQ enabled application will call this WS. Two flows will exist one to process the WS client call with HTTPInput node, and the other flow to process the legacy aplication reply message and forward via HTTPReply node to ws client. The legacy application inputs and outputs data in tagged delimited format. The message flow does NOT have to do any data validation although it may check for the presence of some data within the body.

I note that to generate wsdl using the toolkit a messageset is required for describing the input and output messages to the flow. I also note that the HTTPInput node can invoke a BLOB parser which we want in this case. We do not want to generate messagesets for this system.

I am confused do I still need to generate wsdl and how?

Any assistance will be much appreciated. We are on wbimb 5 unfortunately.

Meanwhile I will work on a simpler scenario - Wbimb receives httpinput and generates MQ datagram - no reply processing will be necessary. The input data already defined in MRM.

No reply in a couple of days so I assume either my original post was so dumb or people out there do not have any experience of using httpinput with a flow published as a webservice?

I'll take a stab at answering some of my own questions:-
-Yes I do need to gen wsdl which the ws client must consume
-The only way to do this through the wbimb 5 toolkit is with an existing mrm messageset.
-setting the domain on the httpinput only sets the parser to be used
-i will need to describe my tds input data in mrm.
Please shout if I'm wrong with my assumptions above.

I've already had success with a flow calling an existing ws (that was last year) now I need to crack this nut. Reckon this will be more difficult so any help will be appreciated. I've been following the redbook SG24-6583-00 but do not have ready access to wsadie.

That looks about right, yes.

You should consider upgrading to v6 of WMB. v5 goes out of support in about a year. You should at least be starting to plan the upgrade.

Thanks Jeff.

We are doing a big bang next year was/mq/wbimb to 6 but I'm hoping to get the new s/w in advance. I understand that in wbimb 6 toolkit the 'web' perspective is available. This means I do not have to worry about mixing wsadie with wbimb as was done in the redbook.

Getting this POC working could be quite key to us, as next year we will be going through some new integration challenges. So expect me to come back with more queries.

The options for working with Web Services in v6 are significantly more advanced than in v5 - particularly with the 6.0.2.0 Toolkit and IA90.

I'm sure you'll get things done with v5, but it may be more round-about and complicated than you'd like it to be.
