Hi friends,
I have 4 QM's on MQ server. 3 of them are contineously running when I logoff or logon into the MQ Server. 1 QM is not running. Every time I need to start that QM when I logon into the MQ server. That QM is shutting down when I logoff from the MQ server. My user ID is member of mqm group. Could you guys help me on this issue what is the root cause for this problem? and What is the solution for this issue?

Thanks
Dhanaraj

WIth MQ 6 you have option "Automatic" or "Manual".

PMR - Problem Management Record.

It lets you register problem in IBM support.

I am thinking a lot of people on here work for companies that do not buy support, so they are screwed if they can not get an answer off the net.

Perhaps, but if the product's throwing an FDC then only IBM can provide a definative answer. AFAIK the ability to raise PMR comes with the license (and clearly all companies use licensed software) - anyone able to confirm / deny?

Aside from the general & political point of companies that don't buy some kind of support and then use the software for business critical uses are playing with fire anyway. Sooner or later they'll get burnt, pehaps slightly, perhaps badly. This is true of all software products, not just MQ.

It's also true that the guy who decided to save some cash by not buying support is nearly always not the guy who has to pick up the pieces, and ends up wandering boards like this looking for help.

But that's why we're here.

Dhanaraj,

How did you resolve your problem. I have this problem with new installation of MQ v6.

BTW.
Does anybody else have any ideas why my qmgr is not starting automatically . Have set to "Automatic" and there are no error's or FFST/FDC's.

Thanks.

Okay,
I found MUSR_MQADMIN is not the owner of the mq processes. And also found MUSR_MQADMIN is not defined as a user. This is a new install so why is this missing. I didnt check to see that it was there before i installed the fixpacks(Just in case the fp's did something funny).
Would anyone have any reason why this user wasnt create. I am on Windows 2003, MQ ver 6.

Hi,

MQ for Windows is still rubbish in this respect I'm afraid.

Make sure you are starting the QM via the explorer, and make sure the user ID MQ is running under is in the MQM group.

Why they cannot run MQ as system I have no idea - making it run under a user ID restricts the available desktop heap causing knock on problems.

Cheers
