Hi

Does IBM provide a plugin for MQExplorer V6,

The installation package for MQ V6 has all the components packed with it. I want an installation package which will only install MQExplorer V6

Can you install just the MQ Explorer from the media? Absolutely.

Do you have to pay for it as a licensed product? Ask your IBM sales rep.

Cheers

MQExplorer can be installed from the media...but if i give the user the media to install MQExplorer...I am sure they will install the whole MQ(which is licensed)

So i wanted the media which can install only MQExplorer

I'm with Toronto_MQ on this - I'm not sure if you can install MQExplorer without a license.

Speak to your IBM sales rep.

There is no fee to pay when you install just the MQ Explorer on a machine. The announcement letter is pretty clear about that.

Whether you consider that "licensed" or not is probably a moot semantic point. However, it is only provided on the server CDs.

Yes exactly...there is no license to install MQExplorer

But they dont have a separate installable for MQExplorer...it is included in the server CD.

SO if i tell a user to install MQExplorer from the media, there are chances that that person will install the whole product which i dont want

There is an WMQ Explorer addon available that installs into the Message Broker Eclipse environment.
Like the Broker Toolkit, MQ Explorer is a client application and in general, clients for not require licenses that cost money.

This Plugin/Add-on is available without the rest of the MQ server software so I guess that it is a 'freebie' in terms of license costs.

The GUI Enviroment is based upon Eclipse so it(MQ Explorer) should install into an equivalent version of plain Eclipse that can be downloaded from many sources also free of charge.

The general rule of thumb I use for MQ Licenses is that if the Server Core is installed then you need to buy a license. Anything else cannot support a working Queue Manager which is what you are paying for.

As has been said, call your IBM Sales Rep and get it in writing if you are that concerned.

Number IS02

There are links to the Support packs from the 'sticky' at the top of the MQSI part of this site.

Enjoy....

smdavies99, you have that backwards.

IS02 is a Message Broker Admin toolkit add-on that installs into the WMQ Explorer.

It's not a standalone WMQ Explorer, nor will it install (afaik) the WMQ Explorer into MB Toolkit. In fact, it would be pretty redundant to install IS02 into MB Toolkit.

The only way that I am aware of that you can get the WMQ Explorer is to install it from the CDs.
