Hi all ,
I tried to migrate from MQ5.3 CSD 10 to MQ6 without un-installing the old version. The upgrade went fine , after rebooting the server , I am not able to see the MQ Explorer or MQ Services from the start - program .
Following are the steps I performed.
1) Stop my MQSeries Service
2) Started the installation of IBM Websphere Eclipse Platform V3.0. It is installed successfully.
3) Started the installation of MQ 6.0. It is installed successfully.
4) After installation I am only getting the following in my "Start -> All Programs->IBM Websphere MQ" tab
* Prepare Websphere MQ Wizard
* IBM Key Management
5) I am not getting Websphere MQ Explorer in my Start -> All Programs->IBM Websphere MQ" tab
6) I have checked through command prompt and all the qmgrs are running fine .
This problem is coming when I am trying to overwrite 5.3 with 6.0
If you need any more info please let me know.

What components of WebSphere MQ did you install? Did you select Standard/Typical install? Are you installing on a client, or a server?
Do you have an /eclipse directory in the WebSphere MQ installation root? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I am installing MQ6 service on windows 2003 not MQ client , I selected typical install with the option to migrate from previous version "the directories path". I had to install Eclipse as a requirement , however when I checked the root directory "mqm" , I noticed I don't have an Eclipse directory in there . it is installed in a different directory , will that be the issue ? _________________ "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used

It really sounds like something didn't install correctly.
There should be two directories named /eclipse. One will be under the EclipseSDK folder, the other under MQ install root.
There should be an installation log file somewhere that might have errors. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks Jeff , Indeed it was something missing through the installation steps. I had to actually tell it to install MQ Explorer. _________________ "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used
