Can anyone tell me if SMF provides a variable or the ability to determine how long a message resides in a queue for.

Do you mean how long it will sit there (message expiry) or how long it has sat there (put timestamp)?

How long it sat in the queue.
Let me explain what I am going through. I am using SMF to give stats on the commit elasped time from a cics transaction to the mqput on the queue and releases, but some of my counterparts are stating this time frame also includes the time it spends sitting in a trans queue waiting to go out to our client.

I don't think that kind of info is logged in the SMF records. Of course, the application that does the MQGET could compute that time, since it has access to all that info at that time.
