I think it's inappropriate for this site to sponsor a link to any political cause, such as the one for Obama. If I'm not mistaken, this is a site for MQ-related topics, not politics. If I'm mistaken, then I think it's time to leave.

In fact, it's entirely the other way around.

The obama link is sponsoring this site - it's a paid advertisement.

I did not say it was an advertisment for a legitimate political source.

It's both annoying, pointless (for non-US) and poor taste to have any political stuff on here.

Aside from the US elections being far from pointless to non-US people in this globalised world, it's no better and no worse than other adverts you see on sites around the web.

And if people don't want advertising on this site, you'll find a "make a donation" button at the top of the page. Remember that while this site is free to use, it's not free to run. Revenue must come from somewhere. If you don't like where it's being obtained from, provide an alternative.

My 2 cents (in every sense of the word!)

This site is provided for the likes of me to use. Therefore my opinions are relevant.

If money is that tight, I will host this site on my ad-free private virtual server free of charge (it's sited in Texas). Web hosting is very low cost these days.

Hi,

The easiest solution is to use FireFox or Maxthon to simply block the Ads.

I am in the US, but I have to concur.

I have contacted Brandon to find out if he knows about this particular link maybe he can shed some light onto it...

come to think of it, when this link is targeted at this site... are they expecting to raise a million from us?

If so, it would make zpat's point. If not, it serves little purpose.
