Hi
this is a newbie question, sorry if this is too obvious.
We have a MQ server 5.3.0 installed on Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.1A OS.
Now we are installing a new windows 2003 SP2 (64bit) which needs to connect to that MQ server.
We have only found MQ clients 7.X versions available for download, and in it says this client would connect against any previos MQ server version.
Has anyone tried this already?
Also, is there any recommended way (or guide) to test connectivity from the client?
Newer clients can connect against older MQ servers, and older MQ Clients can connect to newer MQ servers. There is no dependency on versions for basic MQ Client functionality. Newer features may not be available until both the MQ Client and the MQ Server are at the newer version.
The MQ Client will come with a number of free sample programs. The most basic one is called amqscnxc which simply connects to the MQ server over the port you specify (or 1414 by default), gets the Queue Managers name and ends. If it works, you have proved the MQ Client can communicate with the MQ Server. Execute it as follows from the MQ Client machine:
