we are planning to connect more than 200 client applications to a single AIX qmgr at a time.

We can't change this setup unless forced by some limitation on the MQ side.

And all of them would be PUTting a queue Q1 and GETting from a queue Q2 both on the AIX qmgr. Q1 is a remote queue pointing to some other queue on a z/OS qmgr.

Can someone pls tell me the max limit on the number of client connections that can be made to a single qmgr ?

Any parameters that we need to tune here for performance ?

On AIX it will be fine, up to about 1000 at least. Change the default maximum from 200.

On WMQ v6 you can set a DISCONN interval on SVRCONN channels which might be worth doing.

what is the parameter that I need to change on the AIX qmgr to make it 1000 ?Is it one of the attributes I can change with the MQSC command 'ALTER QMGR .....' ?

It's in the qm.ini. It's documented in the manuals under MaxChannels and MaxActiveChannels in the Channels stanza.
