I have been developing an XMS-based application in C# whose target is a non-RFH2 compliant system so I have been using

connectionFactory.SetIntProperty(XMSC.WMQ_TARGET_CLIENT, XMSC.WMQ_NOT_RFH2_COMPLIANT);

to produce messages in MQSTR format. Most of the development has been against MQ 6.0.1.0 with Message Service Client for .NET 1.2.1.0 (Feb 2006).

On deploying this against MQ v6.0.1.1 and Message Service Client for .NET 1.2.2.0 (July 2006) the same code produces messages in MQHRF format.
(I tried using XMSC.MQJMS_CLIENT_NONJMS_MQ but this made no difference.)

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any solutions or workarounds?

In the way these things sometimes happen, some further searches turned up a different way of setting the format to MQSTR, using a parameter on the queue URI:

session.CreateQueue(queueURI+"?targetClient=1")

which did work with the later MQ/IA9H versions.

(Posted in case it helps anyone else.)
