Hi, I've been looking through the IBM library on MQ programming and through the old Redbooks and I can't find a way to monitor channel status. I would like to do polling at intervals to find if the status is running/starting/stopping/down or failed. Is there a way to do this through the MQ interface?
Thanks,
James |

The only thing you need to remember is that if the channel is "inactive", then it has no status, and you will not get back a status entry for it. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Great, thanks for the replies, guys. I will look into it - this is for use within VB.Net, and I assume retrieving an error would imply the channel is not running, depending on error code returned.

No. You won't get an error code if the channel is not running.
You will get back a status that indicates if the channel is running, or if it is stopped. The only state that you will NOT get a status for is if the channel is "inactive".
You will only get an error if the command server is not available, or if your PCF commands are wrong, or you don't have permissions to inquire channel status, or etc. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
