Hi -

When I upgrade for MQ 5.3 to MQ V6 will I need to recompile MQ apps against the V6 libraries?

Thanks,

I'm assuming here that you've statically linked the MQ libraries with your app otherwise the question is meaningless. This implies you're using C/C++ and so far as I'm aware it should be ok. Certainly using 5.3 client with a V6 queue manager works (I'm using one as we speak) though there's been a bit of chatter about v6 clients and older queue managers. I think even then so long as the 5.3 is patched to a recent level it's ok?

VB & .NET (AFAIK) use the dll's they're given on Windows. The same comments re: level compatibility apply.

Differing opinions positively welcomed.

It's a good idea to recompile your applications, and regression test them.

In general, it shouldn't be necessary. But if you're doing some specific things, then it might be. And if you want to use new features in v6, of course you'll have to.
