Hi All,

Can anybody please point me to a good starting tutorial or a demo that shows how to create a cluster of Queue Managers in order to allow failover design?....

Is this clustering of Queue Managers done on the Queue Managers that are on the same machine or can it be done with those on different physical machines?.....

Also, my understanding of embedded messaging is the application server on websphere mq.....and external messaging is where these two are on separate physical machines.....Is my understanding right?......If not, can anybody please throw some light on this?.....

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated..........

Thanks.

1) Clustering can be done on the same or different machines; just set channels as normal

2) The question of using clustering for failover has been debated endlessly in the Clustering section of this forum. Go though some of the old threads and you'll find designs discussed, problems highlighted, solutions put up & shot down

IMHO (and it's not shared by all) clustering is a load balancing & administrative aid. It's no substitute for a "proper" HA solution, but can be bent to fit if the budget won't run and you can tollerate good availability rather than high.

For fairness, I will admit that the additional clustering parameters in v6 make it better at failover than v5.n, but I stand by my opinion.
