Hello Everyone.
I am working in AIX/MQ 5.3 box.
i was trying to start queue manager...I got the error code AMQ7064.
I looked at the mq error message documentation and it says the following
"User response: Ensure that log path exists and that QM has authority to read and Write to it. If the QM alrady exits, ensure taht the Logpath attribute in the queue managers configuration file matches the intened log path."
What is the starting point to troublesoot this problem e.g what shoud i look.
Thanks very much for help |

well, check the /var/mqm/ and /opt/mqm directories for ownership and permissions by doing 'ls -lrt' on them. Ensure that the user you are logged in as (and trying to start the queue manager as) is the same person, or in the same group as the above directories are owned by. Typically this is mqm/mqm. Sometimes installation of mqseries can go wrong and the files/directories end up getting owned by someone else, and then you are unable to start the queue manager. _________________ Brandon Duncan

Hi Brandon
Thanks for response and still having the same problem.
1. I checked permission, it looks fine... user mqm/mqm is there
2. I looked at the location of log fine and compared with log fine
in working queue manager in different box... looks OK
3. I tried to delete the existing QM but got the same error AMQ7064.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Is MQ re-install solve this problem ?
Thanks agin. |

Paul - might be worth double checking what the actual logpath is. Have a look at /var/mqm/qmgrs/<qmgrname>/qm.ini which shows the logpath.
Are you signed on with your own userid, and is that a member of the 'mqm' group?
