I setup QM1 and QM2 to use the same self-signed certificate, in two key.kdb and stash the password to files in the same directories.
But when I try to start the channels, they stay in retrying status, and here's the error from event log. I realized at this point that there is no place to tell the qmgr of the password.
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SSL key repository: password stash file absent or unusable.
The SSL key repository cannot be used because MQ cannot obtain a password to access it. Reasons giving rise to this error include: &B (a) the key database file and password stash file are not present in the location configured for the key repository, &B (b) the key database file exists in the correct place but that no password stash file has been created for it, &B (c) the files are present in the correct place but the userid under which MQ is running does not have permission to read them, &B (d) one or both of the files are corrupt. &P The channel is 'QM1.QM2'; in some cases its name cannot be determined and so is shown as '????'. The channel did not start.
Ensure that the key repository variable is set to where the key database file is. Ensure that a password stash file has been associated with the key database file in the same directory, and that the userid under which MQ is running has read access to both files. If both are already present and readable in the correct place, delete and recreate them. Restart the channel. _________________ pcelari

thanks for the link Wayne.
BTW, I also run the command below, thinking it might pass the password to qmgrs, but still get the same failure.
amqmcert -m QM1 -s d:\utils\mqssl\qm1\key.kdb -z mypwd
amqmcert -m QM2 -s d:\utils\mqssl\qm2\key.kdb -z mypwd _________________ pcelari

Many thanks for the link.
Following the article, I located the problem, a really trivial one - I typed in the path and while file name "key.kdb", in the QMGR SSLKEYR, where the extention ".kdb" should not present.
again, many thanks for the responses. _________________ pcelari
