my question is do i have to install mq client on for me to be able to connect to the remote mq server?
I am moving to solaris 10 new hardware. previuosly we had solaris 5.8 with MQ server installed on the same machine from where MQ connections where made by the application using MQCONN via a c++ executable.
on the new hardware MQ Server is not installed, its going to be on some other machine. i had to copy the mq related lib's and build/link to create the c++ executable, when i run my program i get an 2058/2059 error. i have set the MQSERVER env variable to point to the channel/tcp/ip(port) with the right ip address and port number. its all in the same network. |

Yes you need the client installed

Not only do you need to install the MQ client, you need to relink your code against mqic*.so instead of mqm.so

Take a look at the WMQ V6 Clients manual. All, or nearly all, is explained there.
