This was running sucessfully till yesterday.
I have checked the .odbc.ini file and nothing has been changed
when i do ps -eaf there are no services running for the broker.
It certainly appears that either the userid/password for the broker was changed - or - the userid/password for the database was changed.
That is what the message is telling you.
