Hi,

what's the RAM requirement for MQ on Linux? the QuickGg Guide only has Disk Storage under Hardware requirement, never mentions memory requirement as the manual under 2.1 did. But I need a guideline to justify my request for a hardware requirement.

appreciate any feedback.

How many queue managers are you going to have on the machine?

How active are they going to be?

How many server-binding programs are you going to have on the machine?

How much memory do they need?

How many client programs are going to connect to this machine at the same time?

How many non-client channels are going to be running?

that's exactly what I have in mind, but the guideline I'm looking for should tell me MB per qmgr, per queue, per active client channel, per non-client channel, etc.

Where can I find such information?

I'm consolidating all qmgrs to a single zlinux server, so no application will be running there except MQ.

The difficulty you'll run into, I think, is that there isn't going to be a fixed amount of memory for each such object. For example, a queue manager is several processes, each of which will use memory - and the amount of memory that each of those processes use will vary with the work it happens to be doing at the time.

But if you're consolidating existing queue managers, then you can do some basic memory usage monitoring for a day or two, and get a rough idea of how much memory each one will need.
