we plan to use rqstr-srvr cfg and while trying i am wondering if it is a good approach to just use cron and start rqstr channel every N minute on regular interval.
1. Is this the normal approach to keep rqstr running all the time?
2. Even if it is running there is no harm in issuing start chl.
3. I have found that the srvr chnl has to be activited in order for rqstr to be able to start the channel and the communication. If the srvr is not activated (start chl) the channels don't run. Is this obeservation correct, or we are doing something wrong?
1) In our environment, we have a cronjob running on top of the hour to start the rqstr channel. I'm not sure if this is the best approach but, it works without any issues.
2) No harm. An error will be thrown in MQ logs saying that the "channel is in use". Just ignore it.

that's not true (assuming you have it running before and no one stopped it). After you setup the channels (svr & rqstr), if the channels start successfully, next time, starting the rqstr channel should do it. You don't have to start the svr channel all the time.
