hi,
I have installed MQ Client in my machine as a local administrator under my user account (mq) which is a part of Administrators & MQM group.
My VB application is able to connect to MQ Server on Windows 2000 Server on remote machine. But when i login as a user under different domain (SERVER), my application is unable to connect the MQ Server. The error message is MQRC_NOT_AUTHORIZED.
I have set the system environment variable as
MQSERVER=channel/tcp/tcp_name(1414).
Do i need to have any other settings to be done to access the MQ Server.
Should be the user under different domain(SERVER) be part of MQM group. But java application under domain (SERVER) is working fine.
Require your help immediately.
Thanks

Have I got your situation correct:
- Using VB you can client onto a queue manager using the account localmachine\mq
- Using VB you cannot client onto the queue manager using the account domain\user
- Using Java you can connect to the queue manager using the account domain\user
Yes?
Can I further assume the MCA id on the server channel is blank, and you've checked that domain\user is either authorised for the queue manager functions you're using or is a member of a group that is? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi,
I am receiving an error in the event log
Access was denied when attempting to retrieve group membership information for user.
WebSphere MQ, running with the authority of user 'musr_mqadmin@his0579', was unable to retrieve group membership information for the specified user.
Ensure Active Directory access permissions allow user 'musr_mqadmin@his0579' to read group memberships for user. To retrieve group membership information for a domain user, MQ must run with the authority of a domain user.
MCA id is blank.
What needs to be done further
Thanks

That says it all!
Speak to your domains admins about authorities.
You might also want to try the search facility at the top of this page; typing "Active Directory" or "domain users" will yield some useful stuff. Also http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28529 to get you started. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
