Hi,

I would like to copy a message set project to a different name without changing the original one. I've tried doing so by just making a copy of the folder, renaming it and adding it to my workspace.
The problem is that the duplicated message set receives the same msgsetid. I've tried editing the .mxsd file manually and give it a different msgsetid but than I received an error message that the file was corrupted.

Does anyone know a simple way to duplicate a message set with a different name and id?

Thanks,
Alik

Hi alechko,

You cannot do this...the message set id's are meant to be unique and are not generated by users...

You'll simply have to create it newly...

Regards.

or possible rather than copying try exporting and importing as I believe it will give it a new id (if memory serves correctly)

Hey Alik

You cannot do this without generation errors

What you can do is to create a new message set based on the old one, which will generate a new one with a copy of the old, with a different message set ID.

You can also export the old message set (not the project) and import it which will change its ID, but the name will be the same.

Good luck

You can contact me if you need help with a more tricky but not working always way.

sirsi,
Changing the ID in the mrp file does not always work. A better way is to use mqsicopymsgset command.
