Does anyone have any information on the number of sites using MQ? Or the estimated number of people working with MQ?

Thanks,

True. Although I would guess that there are a lot more people than that using MQ.

I would too. At a minimum, one would need to do a union with the users on the listserv.

And then get some stats for software.ibm.websphere.mqintegrator...

And then add at least another 10% for people who stick with the manuals.

But I think the T&M conference has only about 2000 people usually. If you look at that as a 10% sample... And then assume that about half the people there are only there for CICS...

Or one could ask IBM how many separate institutions own MQ licenses, and guess from there...

Hi,

If I remember correctly, I thought an IBMer at the 2000 T&M Conference said the MQ was used at 12,000 companies worldwide.

I have know idea how many MQAdmins, QA-Testers or developers actually have experience with MQ or are actively using it.

Although, it would be interesting to know. Maybe IBM should release the number of MQ certified people.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Would think you can count the number of certified people on Websphere MQ. May not exceed a few thousands. Just IMHO.

Cheers

Yeah, I was thinking of plunking down the cash to attend the conference in Vegas this year to promote the site (hand out flyers, sell t-shirts, mugs, who knows) but I'm beginning to think almost everyone there has at least heard of the site.
BTW, the 6000 figure is misleading in and of itself, because it doesn't accurately tell how many people visit this site. You can view every posting without ever registering - you only need to do that if you plan on posting something yourself. And the percentage of people who visit and never register is bigger than you would think. There are about 1000 unique visits per day to the site, and only about 700 of these visits result in someone logging in.

Then, if everyone there has already heard of the site, you don't need to pass out T-Shirts...

You need to pass the hat...

Gartner or some other comapny must have researched how many companies use MQ and based on that one can come up with approximate (+/- 500) numbers of MQ Users.

Talking about T&M Conf. How many people are planning to attend the conf from this forum?

Hi,

IBM told me that they expect 1500 people to attend this year's T&M Conf. in Las Vegas.

Yeah, I'm planning on going. Hopefully I'll be able to pin down one more advertiser for the site while I'm there, so I won't have to ask you guys for any more donations.
I'm probably going to setup sort of link on this site so people can let me know who is going to be attending, and then maybe we can have some mqseries.net get together one of the evenings...

Brandon,
It's a great idea to setup some kind of link to know who will be at the conf. I look forward to meeting some of you guys down there.

There are always "Birds of a feather" sessions late in the day. You might try setting up an official BOF for MQSeries.net.

I wish I could be there but it is not in the cards this year
