Hello All,
I have installed the V6 Toolkit on Windows XP SP2. I'm not getting the Java Programming APIs as a menu option.
I have de-installed and re-installed a few times and I never get this menu option.
I have tried doing a custom install and a normal install, with the same results.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Otis

Do you mean you can't open the java perspective or that you don't see the "Java compute node", or something else?

Hi Wayne,
When I click start then IBM Webshpere Message Broker 6.0, I get the options, start help, stop help, rational product updater, websphere message brokers toolkit, but I don't get the option Java Programming APIs... which will let me use the Configuration Manager Proxy API Exerciser.

Well, I don't know why your not getting those menu items, but the paths for them are:

CMP API Doc:

"C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\6.0\docs\ConfigManagerProxy\index.html"

Exerciser:

"C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\6.0\sample\ConfigManagerProxy\StartConfigManagerProxyExerciser.bat"

Java Plugin doc:

"C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\6.0\docs\JavaAPI\index.html"

So you can create your own shortcuts ... hope this helps ...

Hi Wayne,
This explains the problem. I think I have to install the runtime component on my workstation. I thought these CMP API Exerciser was part of the Toolkit install.
Thanks

Along the same lines, does anyone know why that is??? Why aren't things like the CMP API Exerciser as well as the configuration manager commands installed as part of the toolkit?

For example, the mqsistartmsgflow command. It isn't installed as part of the toolkit but as part of the runtime. This command allows you to script the same functionality that the toolkit provides. The intent would be, at least I thought it would be, to install the toolkit only on a developers desktop. Then, using the toolkit, or command line, they could control a remote configuration manager/broker. However, they can't. They can control it through the toolkit, but, not through the command line. The only way to do it through command line that I'm aware of is to install the runtime, which is overkill because the user is working with a remote configuration manager/broker.

Useful comments about the packaging of the utilities; thanks.

Note that the Config Manager Proxy applications you mention don't require a toolkit or runtime install: see http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmbhelp/v6r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/ae33102_.htm
(This also goes for the CMP samples, including the Exerciser.)
