Hi,
I'm using AIX V5.3 and MQ V5.3.0.2 with CSD11.
When I try to uninstall MQ with SMIT, I get the following error message:
Verifying selections...done
Verifying requisites...0503-214 installp: A lexical error occurred for BCGCommon600 6.0.0.0
on line 1, column 11.
There is an illegal number: 35f.
Use local problem reporting procedures.
I made sure that no MQ processes are running.
What could be the reason for this error message ?
Is this an AIX problem ?
Any help is much appreciated !
Regards,
Ruediger |

Well I'm fairly sure that it is not an MQ problem - is there a product BCGCommon600 installed ?
The output from "lslpp -v BCGCommon600" would be interesting _________________ Philip Morten

Hi,
thanks for your quick reply...
Here is the output:
lslpp -Lc -v BCGCommon600
#Package Name:Fileset:Level:State:PTF Id:Fix State:Type:Description:Destination Dir.:Uninstaller:Message Catalog:Message Set:Message Number:Parent:Automatic:EFIX Locked
BCGCommon600:BCGCommon600:6.0.0.0: : :C:T:BCG Common File Feature:/wpg/bcghub/common:/wpg/bcghub/_uninst/uninstall::0:0:IBMBCG600:0:
I guess you're right: BCGCommon600 seems to belong to WebSphere Partner Gateway.

Yes, and from your original post it looks as if it has got a corrupt entry in the ODM. _________________ Philip Morten

This would give if there are any broken installations.
If there are then yes, it is an AIX problem or the problem with whoever installed the software piece that is broken.
Also, see if there are any dependencies.
For example, there might be a dependency by WPG on MQ. You may not uninstall MQ without uninstalling WPG (unless you do a force uninstall). |

Hi Vennela,
thanks for your hint.
It seems that there are filesets that need to be corrected:
lppchk: A lexical error occurred for BCGCommon600 6.0.0.0
on line 1, column 11.
There is an illegal number: 35f.
Use local problem reporting procedures.
lppchk: A lexical error occurred for BCGHubCore600 6.0.0.0

Hi,
finally, I managed to solve this problem....
Here is what I did:
1. Uninstall WebSphere Partner Gateway
2. Manually remove the remaining entries from the ODM using the odmdelete command like this:
odmdelete -q lpp_name=BCGBobcat600 -o product
odmdelete -q lpp_id=2108 -o history
odmdelete -q lpp_id=2108 -o inventory
BTW: the WPG uninstaller sucks - it leaves entries in the ODM...
3. Uninstall MQ using SMIT
4. Manually remove remaining MQ directories
5. Install MQ using SMIT
=> problem solved

Have you raised a problem with IBM against the WPG uninstaller ? |
