On 64-bit platforms where WebSphere MQ provides both a 32-bit and a 64-bit product, there is NO migration path from V6 32-bit Queue Managers to V6 64-bit Queue Managers. Customers are strongly advised to install WebSphere MQ 64-bit products on 64-bit platforms as there is a migration path from V5 32-bit products to V6 64-bit products.
Dear Gurus , Just trying to understand the meaning of
there is NO migration path from V6 32-bit Queue Managers to V6 64-bit Queue Managers,
Does this imply that infuture if you want to upgrade the MQ from V6 32 bit , we need to delete the Qmanger and recreate it ? or the the V6 software needs to deleted and reinstalled ?
If Only the Qmanger needs to deleted and reinstalled I guess it will not be a big issue. ( I Hope the Filesystems etc will be intact)
Thanks |

Hi,
You really shouldn't post a comment here like that without including some sort of context. Because you will confuse people or get totally incorrect answers.
For the rest of the people, that quote is from note # 4 from the following page:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006795
What it is saying is that if you use the 32-bit binaries to create a queue manager then later you cannot start to use 64-bit binaries. Hence, as you pointed out, you will need to delete and re-create the queue manager to use 64-bit binaries.

hi, how can I know my MQ6 installed on AIX and solaris is 64bit or 32bit.
I need config exit against queue manager, but I wonder the version of MQ.
the cpu of my AIX is 64 bit, but kernel is 32 bit, and after I install MQ, is this MQ 32bit or 64bit, is there some command or other way to know the MQ's version |

As it is Version 6.0 you should make a 32 bit version AND a 64 bit version of your exit.
