Got 1 amqrmppa exe using 50 % CPU. MQ 5.3.0.8 on Windows 2000 SP4. Got the PID, and using MO71 I did a wildcard Queue Usage command to see which queues and channels were using this PID. A lot of them, more than 64, which I find odd, since I thought amqrmppa would spawn a max of 64 threads.

Anyway, any safe way of stopping this exe from using this CPU short of bouncing the QM?

On AIX on a Dev MQManager, I have gotten away with killing an amqrmppa processes in MQManagers before without it doing any real damage to the MQManager. Yes some FFST's were generated but the MQManager stayed up and a Client application had to be bounced because it was not coded to recconnect after a failure.

Never tried it on a Windows box.

by repeatedly do Dis Channel Status * all, I noticed that one of the SVRCONN channels I have has its message counts rising by huge amounts each refresh cycle. But the queues it accesses are 0. I suspect this client app is in a loop of some sort rapidily connecting opening getting 2033, or some other error on puts, closing reconnecting, and over and over as fast as it can. Each MQ API call to the QM counts as 2 "messages" on the client channel, the request and the result of the API call.

Tommorow they will stop the app in QA, and we will see if the CPU goes down. Will let you know.
