Hi,

I am new to MQSeries. I am planning to write exam 294. I have a question on the number of channels that would be required for 4 QM to communicate in the following architecture
1.Ring
2. Hub and spoke
3.Clustering
I believe that the number of channels required in case of cluster of 4 QM wud be 4 CLUSSDR and 4 CLUSRCVR. and the number of channels incase of ring and hub wub be 4 SDR and 4 RCVR from the hub and 3 more channels connecting the spokes among each other.

Please correct if I am wrong. I wud be thankful if u could comment on this.

Regards,
Jatin Kakkar

There is no such configuration as Ring. The configurations are:

1- Pont-to=point (meaning defining sender-receiver pairs pf channems between the qmgrs that need to communicate.
2- Star Topology (Some people call it hub-spoke topology but IBM terms it Start Topology): In your case, one of your 4 qmgrs will be in the middle of the star (meaning hub as you called it). There will be 3 pairs of sender-receiver channels between the hub and the other 3 qmgrs. You don't need sender-receiver between each of the spokes. In order for all of the qmgrs to be able to communicate with each other, you would have to create qmgr aliases in the hub pointing to each of the spoke.
3- Clustering: If you have only 4 gmgrs then 2 of them will have to serve as a full-repository. Or you would have to create 2 other qmgrs for this purpose. Suppose you have chosen the former: Then you would have to have:
1- Sender-receviver channels between the full-repositories
2- 1 Cluster-receiver and cluster-sender channel on each partial 2 qmgrs).

mr

I could build one...

Please read the link that EddiaA posted, to understand why we don't discuss exam questions.
