Rational ClearCase requires 3.0 or greater Eclipse version.
when i search for eclipse updates from WBIMB it only searches for 2.0.3 updates.
I have 3 installations of eclipse for different products on my machine. WBIMB, ICS, Adapter Framework. all of them are at 2.0.3
how do i upgrade eclipse to 3.0?
I downloaded new build 3.0.2 from downloads.eclipse.com, but afraid of overwriting current versions. Is WBIMB compatible with newer versions of eclipse?
did anybody done this before?
Thanks |

No.
But you should be able to find older ClearCase plug-ins that support the WBIMB Toolkit.
Oh, and

Okay, what are you trying to do? Use ClearCase from within the Broker Toolkit to version/source control your projects?
Then you need a version of the ClearCase plug-ins that supports the same version of eclipse that the Broker Toolkit is running on.
You can't add the Broker Toolkit plug-ins to a different Eclipse installation, that I know of. You certainly can't add them to a different IBM product built on eclipse, except for WSADIE (at the same eclipse level).
Right now, all of the IBM eclipse based tools essentially require their own eclipse installation. I keep hoping this will change with v6 of the various products. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff,
i am trying to install ClearCase Remote Client plugin into WBIMB toolkit. when i do that i get error: "org.eclipse.jface" plug-in required.
when i install whole remote client product it installs its own version of eclipse(3.0) and clearcase perspective is automatically integrated into it. Again, its not available in WBIMB. i need to make my changes and close WBIMB. then open up CC remote client and do checkin, checkout projects.
which completely defeats the purpose.
I agree its becoming a pain going forward with these different versions eclipse for different products.
Thanks |

Jeff,
the problem is ClearCase is largely domain based. that link you posted for eclipse-ClearCase plugins will work if the user logged in locally to domain.
But, if the user do not login to local windows domian(which is true in most cases if the user is a consultant) and he just login as a local user to that machine, this remote client plugin helps him with signing in as domain user(just for eclipse). |

Hi waugh,
when I try to connect to ClearCase the toolkit does not respond.
My configuration:
WBIMB v5.0.4
ClearCase plug-in is com.rational.clearcase.win32-2.2.1.46
Do I need to setup something from local ClearCase client ? |

I'd assume that you will need ClearCase client on your PC. _________________ Kiran
