Just wanted to confirm our findings that with MQ 5.3 for Z/OS with CAF, it is only possible to view MQ objects with a GUI admin tool, and that is only possible when using certain 3rd party tools, not the IBM MQ Explorer. As I would expect, viewing as well as putting and getting messages to mainframe queues with third-party admin tools that use SVRCONN channels seems to be no problem.
If anyone has different experience with this, let me know.

Z/OS does not support PCF messages, except in v6.
So if you have any tool that supports z/OS plain text mqsc messages, then it will work.
If your tool only uses PCF messages, then it will not work.
MQExplorer (v5.x) only supports PCF messages.
