We currently use MQ Pub Sub with applications written with the MQ API. This is all under the MQRFH1 header. We are now challenged with supporting both a Publisher and Subscriber running within WAS. We'd be using JMS then. I'm trying to determine if this is the best time for us to make the migration from MQ to WBI Message Broker Pub Sub (i.e. Event Broker). I understand all the extra benefits of running under broker, I just need to know what my options are as we convert to JMS and WAS. I'd like to know if I can take a tactical approach to this if possible, not that I like that, I just need to know my options. I've done some preliminary research and have found some conflicting info.
The MQ 5.3 JMS manual says you can use JMS Pub Sub with MQ Pub Sub. I read the Message Broker manual and it says that MQ Pub Sub does not support the RFH2 format. Can JMS produce a RFH1 header? Can MQ Pub Sub really understand RFH2?
I also read in the JMS manual that you can have the RFH2 header dropped from published messages. Is that really possible? What Pub Sub engine is needed for that? Can either do that? Is there an option in the header that indicates that to the broker to drop it?
Also, can we use a WAS application to act as a publisher or a subscriber? Can or should the subscriber run as an MDB? Is there any good articles that show how to write Pub Sub applications under WAS using the MQ or WBI Message Broker as the Pub Sub broker?
We use broker extensively so I know that we can use that to convert between v1 and v2 without issue. _________________ Thanks!!!
